Guest List Cover Redesign
I got the idea to re-design this cover after reading Lucy Foley’s The Guest List. While I loved the novel I felt that the cover did not accurately reflect the world within. The main character Jules is an uptight socialite trying to solidify her public image through an advantageous marriage. Jules' every decision, even the venue, is designed to align her with the world of old money and elegance. The original cover does a great job of setting an eerie tone for this wedding-turned-murder scene. I also love the added detail of the raindrops as much of the story takes place during a storm; however, the historic castle on the Irish coast is completely lost in the background, and the distressed modern font clashes with the book's themes. This lead me to choose a background image of an outdoor wedding in a storm and mix it with a sleek font to suggest a sense of luxury. I then Photoshopped myself into the image, darkening my silhouette to hint at the eventual reveal which comes at the end of this gripping murder mystery.
